Acceptable Use Policy

1. Authorized Monitoring Only

Every HTTP request and TCP check performed by Uptimestatus.net originates from our server. You must only configure monitors for URLs and hosts you own or have written authorization to monitor.

Unauthorized monitoring may constitute:

• Unauthorized access under computer fraud laws
• Violation of a third party's terms of service
• Potential harassment or denial-of-service

2. Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited:

• Probing unauthorized systems — monitoring IPs, hosts, or URLs without permission
• Abusing check intervals — setting very short intervals to flood a target with requests
• Credential harvesting — using monitoring data to collect sensitive information
• Circumventing rate limits — creating multiple accounts to exceed plan limits
• Illegal content — monitoring or linking to services that distribute illegal content
• Automated account creation — bot registrations are prohibited

3. TCP Port Monitoring

TCP port checks (e.g. checking if port 443 is open) are particularly sensitive. These checks are performed from our server's IP address and may be logged by the target system. Only configure port monitors for your own infrastructure.

4. Outbound Request Identification

All HTTP monitoring requests include the user agent UptimestatusBot/2.1. Do not attempt to forge or disguise these requests. Target servers may block this user agent — that is their right.

5. Reporting Abuse

If you believe someone is using Uptimestatus.net to monitor your systems without authorization, contact the administrator of this installation to report the abuse.

6. Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in immediate account suspension without notice. We cooperate with law enforcement when legally required.
