Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 26, 2026  ยท  Uptimestatus.net

Short version: We collect only what's necessary to run your monitors. We don't sell your data, don't run ads, and don't share your information with third parties.

1. What We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your username and email address. Your password is stored as a secure one-way hash and can never be read by us.

Monitor Data

We store the URLs and hostnames you add for monitoring, along with the results of periodic checks (HTTP status codes, response times, uptime history).

Technical Data

Our monitoring cron job makes HTTP requests to your configured URLs. These requests originate from the server running Uptimestatus.net and are identifiable by the user agent UptimestatusBot/2.1.

What We Don't Collect

  • No tracking pixels or analytics
  • No advertising identifiers
  • No data from third-party sources
  • No payment data (we don't process payments)

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To perform uptime checks on URLs you configure
  • To send alert emails when a monitor goes down or recovers
  • To display your monitoring history and statistics
  • To send account-related emails (email verification, inactivity warnings)

3. Data Retention

Check history is retained according to your plan's history_days setting and automatically pruned. Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.

4. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to:

  • Access โ€” request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification โ€” correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure โ€” request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Portability โ€” receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection โ€” object to processing of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact the administrator of this Uptimestatus.net installation.

5. Data Security

Passwords are hashed using PHP's password_hash() with bcrypt. The database is stored outside the web root and protected by server-level access controls. Sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

This installation may send outbound HTTP requests to URLs you configure. These requests are made on your behalf โ€” we have no control over the privacy practices of those third-party services.
